Review: Commodore 64: a visual compendium

Here it is, the first review of many, and to start things off in spectacular fashion and covering something close to my retrogaming heart is the new book from Sam Dyer; Commodore 64: a visual compendium this review copy was provided by the generous team over at Funstock.co.uk who are selling this exclusively.
On first view the cover of the book is very eye catching and glossy. Small pics of various characters and logos from Commodore 64 gaming History. On opening the book ( with a wonderful dust jacket!) my eyes were hit again by what I can only describe as a visual feast, beautifully printed and full of original C64 artwork. I don't want to give too much away but anyone who ever played on the C64 will love the opening pages!
little Computer People.

The author has done a wonderful job of collecting together an eclectic mix of short reviews and mesmerising images. and the book is wonderfully edited by Steve Jarratt. Every page is Brimming with glorious screens from the C64's early years, Golden Age and newly created titles. There are gorgeous images created by Oliver Frey (www.oliverfreyart.com), and reviews by many industry greats, and even Gary Penn!
As you can tell I cant recommend this book enough , not just to Retro Enthusiasts such as myself but to anyone who appreciates a well put together piece of design and history.
I would have liked to include a huge number of images from the book, but I really want anyone who reads this to feel the same surprise and elation on every page turn that I did.
So in summary I have to say that this book is an absolute must buy for anyone who was a fan of the Commodore 64 or anyone who just loves a great book on design. This book should grace coffee tables all over the planet so get yourself over to www.funstock.co.uk and buy this book NOW!!
I can easily give this book 9.5/10
